I am sure most of you are just like me and have watch the progress of Covid-19 in total disbelief. It is amazing the impact it is having on a global scale. So many lives have been effected and so many plans have been changed.
As the world scrambles to find solutions on how to best stop this virus we are left with the uncertainties and wait patiently to what will come next.
I monitor every major announcement and coverage regarding the virus in all the countries that we operate tours. Each morning I open my computer in hopes that there has been some new update for the better in the fight against this virus. Those updates have streamed in waves of both good and bad.
We love travel as much as you do! The thought of an extended period of not being able to explore new places and meet new people is one we can't comprehend. And yet, here we are facing the reality of that possible future.
What we do know is things are now getting under control in Asia and they are seeing far fewer cases each day. This gives us hope that we will see the same results here in America and Europe, and for that matter the world. There has also been a few breakthroughs in the medical field that offer hope of a cure or vaccination.
Currently our summer tours are still online and scheduled to go. We have made the decision to keep them open to see what changes we will see in the coming months. Switzerland is currently on a nationwide lock down until April 19. The way they handle the virus as a nation along with United States will ultimately decide whether we are able to travel this summer on our scheduled Swiss tours.
We know it is a lot to ask, but for now please be patient as we wait for new updates and breakthroughs here in the coming month. We want to make sure that it is safe for you to travel on our tours, this is our number one priority. If things worsen in the coming months we will cancel our summer tours, we hope this will not be the case. If you have decided already that you will not travel this year and would like to cancel we respect your decision.
We follow the lead of several of our peers in the travel industry in offering you a credit on any payments made, this includes your non-refundable down payment. Most in our industry are only allowing those credits to be good for one solid year. We know that this might not be feasible for most of you and we want you to join us one day on an Edelweiss Tour. With that we are offering the use of your credit on any future tours with us with no time restriction. We realize that we are all in this together!
Let us hope to see change with the warming of the Spring and Summer seasons ahead of us. We want more than anything to be greeting you at the airport in Zurich on your summer tour. In the meantime please be safe and healthy. We wish you the very best and if you have any questions feel free to reach out to me.
Best regards,
Jonathan Larsen
