Day 1:
Arrive into Zurich Airport where you will be greeted by your tour guide who will help you transfer by train into the alps. This two hour train ride will take you from the big city of Zurich deep into the Berner Oberlands of the Swiss Alps. After checking into our Alpine hotel we will take in the quaint surrounding villages with their many Swiss chalets and majestic Alps. For those needing ski rentals we will take care of that today. There will also be an option for some sightseeing around the surrounding Alps. Evening dinner will be spent together followed by a brief orientation about skiing in the Alps and the added adventure options this region has to offer.
Day 2:
We hit the slopes early in the morning. Your first experience in the Alps will be epic! Today we will stay on the Grindelwald side with runs down the First and Grosse Scheidegg. This ski region offers over 60 kilometers of prepared runs that will all offer incredible views of the surrounding Alps. There is also off-piste free-riding depending on avalanche conditions. For an added thrill on this day you can all ride the First Flyer, this quad zip line will definitely take your breath away! Adventure seekers race at speeds of up to 84 km/h down an 800 metre-long cable from First to the Schreckfeld intermediate station. Sitting in the security of a harness and brought to a halt by a spring at the bottom, up to 4 people can enjoy the gigantic Tyrolienne simulaneously. In the evening we will eat dinner together and share our adventures.
XC Ski: Today you will start off your Swiss ski experience in the valley of Lauterbrunnen. This beautiful U shaped glacier formed valley will be sure to take your breath away with its towering cliffs and surrounding Alps. The trail will run from the village of Lauterbrunnen to the village of Stechelberg at the end of the valley. This first day will be a warm up for the coming days.
Day 3:
With one full day of skiing behind us we will be ready to tackle Kleine Scheidegg and Mannlichen. We will be skiing in the shadows of the towering Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger that reach close to 14,000 feet. This region offers challenges for every skill level including the world renowned Lauberhorn run with it picturesque views of both the Alps and Lauterbrunnen valley. You will quickly become a fan of this region with it’s multiple ski runs and towering views of both Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen Valley. On this day you will be riding trains, cable cars, and ski lifts to take you down the slopes. After a full day on the slopes we will enjoy a tasty Swiss dinner together and discuss the following days activities.
XC Ski: On the opposite valley is the village of Grindelwald. Here you will find a beautiful trail offering fantastic views of both the famous Eiger Alp and Wetterhorn Alp.
Day 4:
Today we will leave the slopes and give our legs a little rest. We will visit the enchanting cities of Bern and Thun. Both these cities will be sure to take your breath away. Bern is a Unesco World Heritage Site with its old town dating back to the 1400's. We will see the Parliament Building, Zytglock, the Great Minister Cathedral, the bear pits, and so much more. After our time in Bern we will visit the city of Thun. This quaint village is nestled on the lakeshores of lake Thun. We will have a chance to go through the beautiful castle Thun. After our full day of sight seeing we will head back for a group dinner.
Day 5:
With 2 days of skiing behind us on the Swiss ski slopes we will be ready to tackle the Schilthorn Alp! Known for its steeper and more challenging terrain than the other 2 resorts in the Jungfrau region it will be an adventure! It is a free riders paradise with an abundance of off-piste opportunity for deep powder and untouched snow. You enjoy the views of the Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger and fly down these open trails. On top of Schilthorn you can relax for a bit and eat in their revolving 360 degree restaurant. You can also get your James Bond on and watch clips of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” which was film in that exact location. After a full day on the slopes we will spend the evening over a tasty Swiss dinner. For those craving a little more adventure before the day is through, you can have the option of night sledding. With a length of 15 km and a difference in altitude of 1600 m it is the longest sledding run in the Alps.
Night rides after a tasty cheese fondue will be an unforgettable experience.
XC Ski: We will hop on a train this morning and head to the village of Kandersteg. This village is found nestled at the end of one of the Bernese valleys and offers a vast variety of trails for all ski levels!
Day 6:
Today we will head to one of Switzerland's most famous ski areas Zermatt, Switzerland. With towering views of the Matterhorn you will be amazed of the sheer beauty this ski resort offers. Wide open runs that seem to go on for miles. This will be an amazing day of skiing and sight seeing! After a full day of skiing on the Swiss/Italian border we will enjoy a delicious dinner together
XC Ski: This day will give you the option to join the other for some downhill skiing in Zermatt on the Matterhorn. If you would like to stick to the trails instead of downhill there is an Olympic track that runs between the villages of Randa and Tasch which sit just below the famous village of Zermatt.
Day 7:
Today will be our final day in the Alps for skiing. You will have had 4 incredible days of getting use to the Swiss ski trails and this last day will be yours to enjoy the snow one last time. We will be staying in the Jungfrau region and you will have your pick of the resorts in which you would like to ski. After an epic final day of skiing we will have a great dinner and talk about our final day of skiing. (Heli-skiing & backcountry skiing will be offered on this day)
XC Ski: Today we will have our final day of skiing near the village of Aeschi. This will require both a train and bus ride but it will be well worth it! This has been considered by most who have taken this tour to be the gem of all the ski days!
Day 8:
We will say goodbye to our skies and the Berner Oberlands on our way back to Zurich. Our first stop will be Luzern, Switzerland. This captivating city sits on Lake Luzern surrounded by towering Alps. This city offer a lot of history and charm. We will visit Chapel Bridge, the Jesuit Cathedral, Old Town, Lions Monument, and the St.Leogard Cathedral.
After our time Luzern we will hop on a train to Zurich. Here we will take in Switzerland's largest city by visiting the famous Bahnhof Street, Lake Zurich, the three major cathedrals of Fraumunster, St.Peters, and the Great Minister. We will have our final dinner together in the city of Zurich and then head back to the hotel for the night.
Day 9:
Today we will say our goodbyes after a final breakfast together. We will ensure you make to the airport for your departing flights.
